Pigeonhole Desk Makeover
It's that time of year again...back to school! After putting my degree on the back burner for the past two years, I finally have a work schedule that allows me to finish it up.
In less than a month, I will be back at it, doing homework and studying for tests. That means I need a good place to focus & finish all those papers I'll be writing.
Enter Freecycle, one of the best sites for free projects. I had originally gone out to pick up an assortment of glass jars, but when I arrived, we got to talking and she mentioned some furniture pieces that she was looking to find a home for. I fell in love with this desk & agreed to pay $25 for it at a later date when I could pick it up.

I knew I didn't want to paint this piece; her husband had already put in the hard work of stripping and sanding it down, so stain was definitely the way to go.
After a few hours of work, and new hardware, this little baby came out great!
It fits perfectly into the closet office in the second bedroom, and is just the right amount of rustic charm that I like. The color goes great with everything else in the room, and the hardware is to die for.
It's amazing what a little TLC can do to a piece like this. Every time I look at this desk, I get a big smile on my face, it's just too beautiful! Hopefully that'll motivate me to stay there for all that homework.....
